Syedi Qazi Khan bin Ali A.Q is remembered among the Hudood Kiram of the Doat-e-Badriyeen, known for his deep knowledge, wisdom, and unwavering loyalty. His life reflects a perfect blend of ilm, taqwaa, and khidmat, making him one of the distinguished personalities of the Dawoodi Bohra heritage.

He passed away on 3rd Jamadil-Ula 1141H (1728 CE) in Sidhpur, during the era of the 38th Dai al-Mutlaq, Syedna Ismail Badruddin RA (Saani). His legacy continues through the ilm he spread, the students he nurtured, and the traditions he helped preserve.

Early Life & Attainment of Ilm

Syedi Qazi Khan A.Q was known from a young age for his sharp intellect and love for knowledge. In the era of the Doat-e-Badriyeen, he became one of the noted Hudood, respected for his deep understanding of fiqh, history, and the sciences of Dawat.

He lived in a time when the Dawoodi Bohra community was expanding across Gujarat, and the need for knowledgeable scholars was immense. Syedi Qazi Khan A.Q played a key role in nurturing this ilm.

Khidmat to Four Duat Mutlaqeen

One of his greatest honours was serving four Duat Mutlaqeen RA, each entrusting him with important responsibilities:

  • Syedna Abdul Taiyeb Zakiyuddin RA

  • Syedna Moosa Kalimuddin RA

  • Syedna Noor Mohammed Nooruddin RA

  • Syedna Ismail Badruddin RA (Saani)

During the time of Syedna Badruddin RA, he served as Mukasir, later elevated to the esteemed rutba of Mazoon-e-Dawat. His khidmat included teaching talaqqi, preserving manuscripts, guiding mumineen, and supporting administrative affairs of Dawat.

Role in Sidhpur – A Scholar, Guide & Guardian

Syedi Qazi Khan A.Q eventually became the Vaali of Sidhpur, where he made a lasting impact on the city’s religious and cultural identity.

He strengthened the community by:

  • establishing systems of learning,

  • teaching Qur’an and du’as,

Ahmedabad had 15 Moghul Subas, and Haider Kuli Khan was the Subo during a difficult phase. Scholars of Dawat faced harassment and restrictions, yet Syedi Qazi Khan A.Q continued his work with dignity and courage.

His steadfastness during these hardships is a defining part of his legacy.

A Rare Honour – Dream of Imam uz Zaman A.S

One of the most spiritual blessings granted to him was the honour of seeing Imam uz Zaman A.S in a dream.

Such deedar is a mark of extraordinary purity, and this incident is often mentioned by scholars describing his elevated spiritual station.

Sha’n Comparable to Syedi Hakimuddin A.Q

Syedi Luqmanji bin Habibullah A.Q writes in his marasiya that just as enemies once attempted to disturb the grave of Syedi Hakimuddin A.Q in Burhanpur, a similar attempt was made on the grave of Syedi Qazi Khan A.Q.

Yet, just like Syedi Hakimuddin A.Q, his body remained uncorrupted and in perfect peace, a sign of divine protection and purity.

The Three “Qaaf” – A Historic Moment

A famous historical narration mentions the gathering of three great Hudood, all beginning with the letter “Qaaf”. According to historical accounts, if a fourth Qaaf had emerged during that period, it would have been a sign of the imminent Zuhur of Imam A.S.

  • Syedi Abdul Qadir Hakimuddin A.Q – Burhanpur

  • Syedi Qazi Khan bin Ali A.Q – Sidhpur

Mention in the Marasiya of Syedi Hasanji Badshah A.Q

In the marasiya written by Syedna Al-Moayyed Fid-Din RA for Syedi Hasanji Badshah A.Q, he beautifully alludes to Syedi Qazi Khan A.Q, acknowledging his ilm and service to Dawat.

Qubba Mubarak in Sidhpur

Today, the Qubba Mubarak of Syedi Qazi Khan A.Q stands in Sidhpur as a place of peace, ziyarat, and reflection.

The Qubba has recently been expanded and rebuilt, with a larger sahen and improved structure, allowing mumineen to perform ziyarat with ease.

Inside the Qubba are the graves of:

  • Miya Saheb Valiji Adamji

  • Saleh Bhai Saheb (his respected ustad)

  • Mulla Mohammed Khan (his son)

Each of these personalities has their own contribution to Dawat’s history, making this Qubba a centre of barakat.

Ziyarat by the Duat Kiram

This Qubba has been honoured by the visits of numerous Duat Kiram:

  • Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA visited repeatedly and even held Ashara Mubaraka in Sidhpur.

  • Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA often performed ziyarat and also held Ashara in 1403H.

  • Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS continues this tradition, performing sajda of shukr and ziyarat with utmost reverence.

Their visits are a testimony to the spiritual importance of Syedi Qazi Khan A.Q.
